Waterloo road has shown how hard it is to battle addiction with head teacher Christine turning to the booze yet again but watching the last one really hit a nerv with me firstly the bit where Connor was talking about how his mum use to sneak out to the pub and she would come in drunk and kiss him he felt safe knowing she was home? But don’t we all feel that I had blocked them sort of memories out then I suddenly found my self going back to the past and feeling like the scared little for waiting for my drunken dad to get home from the pub the smell of drink on him made me feel sick but I felt safe knowing he was home safely my dad though I k ow nothing then Connors friend said’ you can’t save her’ which is true but all we do is worry about our parents and all we want to do is save them, what do we do when we can’t save them? then when Christine was telling her story it really made my heart ache seeing how hard it is for an addict but it’s hard for us as she said to gabby’ lying to other people is cruel but lying to your self is so much worse’ hearing that made my heart sink because thats all children of addicts do is lie to out selfs people ask if we’re ok we smile and say yes but we’re not were broken inside screaming for help but yet we manage to stay strong how’s that? Because we’ve been made to survive. We feel we will get into trouble if we are honest well I do anyway. These past few days all iv though about it that epesode and all the past memories id blocked out have come back left me feeling guilty, hurt and upset. But we’re all survivors x
